Walktober Challenge

October 5- 23 students who walk, bike or scoot to school at least ten times are eligible to be entered in a drawing to win a scooter.  If a student is unable to walk or ride to school then they can walk or ride in their own neighborhood.  All students participating should keep track of their time at home and return the form to school by October 27th.  Tally sheets were sent home with students on Friday. Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be this Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm.   Please contact your child’s teacher if you need more information.

PowerSchool

If you are new to our school and would like help setting up your PowerSchool account please stop by the office when you come for Parent Teacher Conferences or give us a call. PowerSchool is a great resource for parents to track their student grades and attendance.  

Volunteers

If you are planning to volunteer at the school and will be working in the hallway please check your email.  You should have received instructions on how to set up an appointment in your email.  Please get your fingerprinting done as soon as possible.  If you have questions please call the office.

Calling in Absences

If your child is going to be absent from school please call the office and let us know.  If you leave a message please let us know the reason for the absence.  If they are ill it is helpful if you will indicate their symptoms so we can direct you to the accurate precautions we are taking at the school.  Please see the table below. 

What if my child has been in close contact with someone who is a confirmed case of COVID?

Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of an individual for 15 minutes or longer within a 24-hour period, regardless of whether either person was wearing a mask. 

Students: Quarantine period after showing symptoms of COVID

Condition

Return to School

One or more new / unexplained of the following symptoms of COVID:

* Fever

* Persistent cough

* Difficulty breathing

* Loss of taste or smell

With medical evaluation or negative COVID test:

May return to school 24 hours after symptoms end

With positive COVID test or without medical evaluation:

Should not return to school for 10 days after onset of symptoms and 24 hours after symptoms have ended.

Two or more new / unexplained of the following symptoms of COVID:

* Persistent headache

* Sneezing/runny nose

* Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

With medical evaluation or negative COVID test:

May return to school 24 hours after symptoms end

With positive COVID test or without medical evaluation:

Should not return to school for 10 days after onset of symptoms and 24 hours after symptoms have ended.

Students: Quarantine period following close contact with a confirmed case.

With symptomatic person who is waiting for test results

Strongly encouraged to stay home until test results confirm whether close contact has been infected.

With a confirmed case of COVID

Mandatory exclusion from school for a minimum of 7 days after the last day of contact.

Strongly encouraged to stay home for 14 days after the last day of close contact with the individual while the individual was under quarantine.

No further contact following test

Mandatory minimum 7 days after last day of close contact (14 days strongly encouraged)

No isolation following the test.

Mandatory 7 days after the last day of close contact (14 days strongly encouraged)

(This will likely mean at least 17-24 days after the positive test: 10-day quarantine + 7 mandatory days + 7 strongly encouraged days)

 

Students who are directed to self-quarantine will be able to continue learning in their classes. Teachers will provide instructional materials including regular streaming of instruction and online face to face support through Google Meet.  Please contact your child’s teacher for instructions on how to access online materials.

 

What if my child has symptoms of COVID? 

One or more new / unexplained symptoms of COVID-19

  • Return to school 24 hours  after symptoms end with a medical evaluation, or 
  • Return to school/work 10 days after onset of symptoms without a medical evaluation

A negative test for COVID

  • Stay home until 24 hours after symptoms have ended

A positive test for COVID

  • Stay home for 10 days after onset of symptoms and 24 hours after symptoms have ended
